The Laying Up Dinner, held on 12 November at the Royal Thames Yacht Club, was attended by more than 80 guests.
The Commodore, Michael Slack, in his last formal function, thanked members of the Club who had contributed to the success of the year, as well as the Secretary, Janet Walker. He introduced Edward Sankey, who proposed the toast to the guests and took the opportunity to issue a challenge to members to take part in a rally in Sunsail yachts to raise money for charity.
The guest speaker, Peter Young, Commodore of the Lloyds Yacht Club, proposed the toast to the City Livery Yacht Club. During his speech, in which he described

the formation and purpose of the Lloyds Yacht Club, he invited the CLYC to use the Lloyds yacht, a 48 foot Swan named Lutine, an invitation immediately accepted by our Commodore, who will organise a days sailing in Spring 2008.
The Commodore then presented the prizes: bottles of champagne to Mari McMorrough-Kavanagh and Dennis Taylor as winner and runner up in the Photographic Competition; the Commodore"s Trophy, for his work in fostering fellowship in the Club, to Clifford Champion; and the Leslie Davis Rose Bowl, for his contribution to the Thames Section during the year, to Norman Woolley (this photo appears on the ATYC page). Janet Walker presented the Maclennan Cup to Nigel Rees, for his help to the Club Secretary during the year.
