ATYC DINNER 2010

Twenty-four members of the City Livery Yacht Club attended the 2010 Annual Dinner Dance of the Association of Thames Yacht Clubs on Saturday 27 February. As is customary, this was held at the Phylllis Court Club in Henley-on Thames. Among the members (seen right) were the Commodore, Michael Wilkey, and his lady. Susan, and the newly elected member of the CLYC Committee, Dr Derek Ross.

The band played a selection of tunes, but was not so loud as to stifle conversation.

The Chairman of the ATYC welcomed the different categories of guests and members of the Clubs represented, as well as reporting on a successful year. The guest speaker was Howard Davidson, Regional Director, Thames Valley, of the Environment Agency.

Prizes were presented to the winners of the boat-handling competition held at the Rally in August, among them the City Livery Yacht Club Cup for the team placed third. This was won by a team from the Thames Motor Yacht Club and our Commodore, Michael Wilkey, presented it to Tim Braine and Mandy Want, who had competed in Brainwave and K-Ser-A respectively (seen right with Chris Turner, Chairman of the ATYC on the right). Tim Braine also took first place in the individual awards.

Unusually, among the special awards, the Cadet Trophy was presented to A Lomsdale, who also won the Twickenham Trophy for coming second in his first race in Silver Dragon. These were collected on his behalf by his grandfather.
