Representing the CLYC for the 18th year, on board their narrow boat, Bruin, Norman and Julie Woolley attended the Association of Thames Yacht Clubs Rally over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
|
| The 2007 rally was held at Kingston-upon-Thames, with the dinner on the Sunday evening being hosted by the Thames Motor Yacht Club at Hampton Court. This was attended by Norman and Julie, Dr. Michael Kearsley and Annie, and Vice Commodore Peta Walmisley.
Among the numerous medals presented was one to Norman and his crew, Ray Mears, from the Thames Scout Cruising Club, for winning the narrow boat handling competition. (Norman is seen right with Linda Crocker, the Vice Chairman of the ATYC). For the first time, the overall winner of the Boat Handling Competition was the all Lady team of Commodore Jeannie Orton on SEAWARD from the Upper Thames Motor Yacht Club. The City Livery Yacht Club Trophy, presented to the third placed team, was won by the Danesfield Club.
Club Member Keith Clarke was represented by his son, who received the Lady Lou Cup for being placed seventh in the individual event and the Phillips ap Family Trophy in the Special Awards Category.

| Norman and Annie were bothered early on in the dinner by a leaking air conditioning unit, pouring water over them until being switched off. To help contain the waterfall, until it finally stopped flowing, the TMYC manager held a beautiful glass bowl under the leak (photo right)!
Next year's event will be held in London's docks, again over the August Bank Holiday weekend. We hope the CLYC can be supported, both with competitors and by attendance at the evening events.
