ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2009

The 2009 AGM was held at the Royal Thames Yacht Club on Monday 7 December 2009.

As there was no challenge for any of the positions on the committee, with the permission of the meeting the Commodore took a single vote on the election of all officers, proposed by Robin Leuchars, seconded by Mari McMorrough Kavanagh and unanimously agreed. (see Officers 2010 for a complete list).

Nigel Reese, the Honorary Treasurer, presented the Accounts for 2008, the adoption of which was proposed by Clifford Champion and seconded by David Church and unanimously agreed.

He reported that the finances were healthy, and therefore the Annual subscriptions and Joining Fees would remain unchanged at £35 for 2010.

A surplus of £250 was achieved, but a number of members had failed to cancel their Standing Orders. The excess of £645 has been transferred into a charitable fund, from which a sum of £250 has been donated to the Bexley & Lewisham Sea Cadets.

confirmed the dates of events for 2010 and gave a list of new members (see elsewhere for the events and full information on Membership).

Michael Wilkey as Vice Commodore (Sailing) is in discussions with the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club regarding Race Officers for the 2010 Regatta. It was agreed that only one handicapped race will be run.

Norman Wollley presented his report on the Thames Section, including his intention to hand over the baton after twelve years. Michael Slack proposed a vote of thanks to Norman for his exemplary service.

Clifford Champion reported on the efforts of the Club to support the RNLI London branch, where over £1million had been raised for 'City of London III', a new Tamar class lifeboat for Sennen Cove. A reception for the contributors had been held on HMS “President” in November. He also reported that the Committee had agreed to support, by encouraging members to help with funds, Lucy Macgregor in her goal of competing in the 2012 Olympics (see also the Commodore's message).

At the conclusion of the AGM, the Commodore presented Robin Leuchars, on behalf of James Crockatt, with the MacLennan Cup for his sailing achievements, as well as his longterm support for the Cowes regatta.

She thanked all members for their support during her term of office, Margaret Campbell at the end of her first year as Secretary and handed over the Commodoreship to Michael Wilkey, who presented her with a bouquet of flowers.
